The Black Student Union Leadership and Mentorship Cabinet and the Institute of Black Culture have teamed up to create a Mentor-Mentee Program. We need passionate and committed students that are looking to inspire, encourage, and foster great relationships. The Mentor Application will be due the last day of Summer B, August 8th, 2008. University of Florida Homecoming Parade

University of Florida Homecoming has recently opened up applications to participate in the 85th Annual Homecoming Parade on October 24th, 2008. If you want to get the word out about your organization there is no better way than to participate in the parade which reaches over 250,000 viewers. We are looking for organizations to make spectacular floats which embody this year’s theme, “Road to the Swamp”. Talent Night will be held in the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom on October 7th, 2008. It is presented by Taco Bell and admission is FREE. OPEN CALLS @ REITZ UNION:

Chomp the Vote Applications Available

Chomp the Vote, Student Government’s voter registration and education campaign, is now accepting applications for the 2008-2009 school year. Applications can be found under the applications section on the UF Student Government webpage at http://www.sg.ufl.edu. Positions available include directorships and staff.Applications are due Wednesday, July 30th at 5PM to either the Student Government Office or by e-mail, to chompthevote@sg.ufl.edu. JAMSA and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc present JerkFest 2008

Bringing together the world famous JERKED food of Jamaica, as well as live music, contests, and prizes, JerkFest will be July 25 from 6 to 10 at University Commons Clubhouse. Music will be provided by Culture Sound and food is provided by Reggae Shack Cafe on University. The cost per plate will be $4. The menu includes JERK Chicken, Wings, Rice and Peas, and Ribs.There will also be various contests and great prizes.This event is pool side, so come out in swimsuits or whatever you are comfortable in. This event is not just for Jamaicans, but all who enjoy Jerk food, live music, contests, prizes, and a GREAT TIME!

AMSA Summer B Meeting

The Premed American Medical Student Association is having their Summer B General Meeting on July 16th at 8:30pm in the Reitz Auditorium. The speakers for the meeting are Robert Kwong and Admissions Committee Chairman, Dr. Gessner. Robert Kwong will be advising students about undergraduate experiences and classes that are needed to get into Medical School. Dr. Gessner will be talking more about what admission committees are looking for and the admissions process. Bring questions specific to both speakers! Non-AMSA members are more than welcome to join in the fun and see what the largest Premed AMSA Chapter is all about.
