Racism Within Your Own Race Forum

FEARLESS, which stands for Fiercely Eradicating All Racism, Loving Enemies, and Serving Society, is a student organization that stands for diversity on campus and promotes awareness against racism through forums and other activities.

Join FEARLESS for their next forum: “Racism Within Your Own Race.” The forum will be held on Tuesday, December 1 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in Florida Gym 265. Topics will include racial stereotypes, skin color & differences in appearance, and geographical racism. Free refreshments will be served.

Gators for HIV Education H.O.T. Party

A H.O.T. Party, which stands for Home Outreach Testing, is a medium for people to get free HIV testing, gain knowledge about sexual health and testing, meet new people and have a good time in a more intimate atmosphere that’s not reminiscent of a doctor’s office or health department. There will be plenty of free food, games, discussion, and optional testing. Attendance will be capped at 20 guests, so you must email D’Metris Welters at ghivevp@yahoo.com as soon as possible to RSVP and reserve your spot at the Party. The deadline to RSVP is Tuesday, December 1.

Spaghetti Lunch for Florida Alternative Breaks

Do you like to eat lunches? Do you like to eat spaghetti lunches? Do you like to eat cheap spaghetti lunches? If so, Florida Alternative Breaks has the perfect event for you. Enjoy a full-course spaghetti lunch with student leaders involved in promoting social change this Thursday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 03 p.m. at the UF Christian Campus House (1 block N of Univ Ave, behind Stadium Club). Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Tickets will be on sale Nov. 16-18 at the Reitz Colonnade and Plaza of the Americas, or can be purchased at the Center for Leadership and Service in Peabody Hall. All profits from the lunch will fund students traveling to perform community service.

Pride Awareness Month 2010

Pride Awareness Month, or “PAM” is an annual month-long series of events held in April that highlight the culture and lives of the LGBTQIAP community at the University of Florida. PAM is entering its tenth anniversary at UF and is currently seeking Overall Directors to staff this special event. This forum will showcase different local minority entrepreneurs who will be presenting their success stories and how to be an effective entrepreneur in this economy. The forum is Tuesday, November 17 at 5:45 p.m. in CSE Room E222

HORIZONS Veteran’s Card Making Day

HORIZONS will host its annual Veteran’s Card Making Day on Tuesday, November 10 at the Reitz Union Colonnade from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is your opportunity to show your appreciation for our troops by making them a personalized card in honor of Veteran’s Day. All cards will be delivered to the local VA Hospital.
