There are currently research positions being offered with the InvestiGators, dealing with nutrition and metabolism. The InvestiGators is a research group comprised of students from various disciplines who are interested in meaningful research. The group is under the direction of Dr. Peggy Borum, PhD. The InvestiGators is made up of three teams: the Carnitine Team (research dealing with an amino acid derivative involved in metabolism), the KetoGator Team (pediatric epilepsy research) and the Gator Team (pediatric HIV research). Journal of Undergraduate Research Seeks Submissions

The University of Florida Journal of Undergraduate Research calls for submissions for its 2008-2009 publication year. Faculty-mentored undergraduate research papers and thesis from all disciplines will be considered for its general issues. The Journal is a peer-reviewed journal for undergraduate work of the highest caliber. Authors should work with a faculty mentor throughout the research process. Submission guidelines and writing tips at: www.clas.ufl.edu/jur/submissions.html. For the 2008-2009 year, papers should be received no later than May 1, 2008.

Must have consumed five or more drinks in one sitting in the past two weeks. Undergraduate Summer Research Opportunity

Participate in a summer research opportunity for undergraduate students at the University of Maryland, College Park. This program is geared at rising juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing a doctorate in the social, behavioral and economic sciences. All students are eligible; however, we highly encourage those from underrepresented populations (i.e. African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders) to apply.We expect 10-12 scholars to participate in the upcoming eight-week experience (from June 2 - July 25, 2008). Events and activities will include lab and research experiences, didactic science lectures, and opportunities for professional development, mentoring, and networking. Accepted students will be provided round-trip airfare, meals, room and board and a $2,700 stipend. Present at the Undergraduate Research Symposium

Undergraduates who have been conducting research are invited to present the results of their research at the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium to be held on March 1, 2008 from 10:00am to 3:00pm in Anderson Hall. Any student wishing to present their research at the symposium is invited to submit their abstract to be considered for inclusion at http://www.honors.ufl.edu/webapps/usp/ Students have the option of presenting a poster or conducting a 15-minute oral presentation.For more details about the symposium, see http://www.scholars.ufl.edu/symposium.html . This is a great opportunity for students to gain research presentation experience. The deadline to submit your abstract for consideration is February 11.

University Scholars Program

The University Scholars Program presents University of Florida undergraduates with the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors while pursuing fundamental research, exploring scholarly inquiry, and developing new knowledge. University Scholars will receive a $2500 research stipend and have the opportunity to publish their work in UF’s online Journal of Undergraduate Research, and to present their research at the Undergraduate Research Symposium. Interested students should have a project idea and a faculty mentor who will support the project. Apply directly to the department or college of the faculty mentor by March 1, 2008.
