Leadership Opportunity with Ambassadors of Civility and Ethics

The Ambassadors of Civility and Ethics, more affectionately known as ACE, is a student organization affiliated with the Dean of Students Office. Their purpose is to ensure that all students have an opportunity to know their rights and responsibilities as designated by the University of Florida code of conduct and code of honor.

ACE is currently seeking new members to help promote a strong code of ethics in the UF community.

Art of Leadership

Art of Leadership (AOL) is a half day conference designed to educate, develop, and inspire strong leaders at the University of Florida and beyond. Conference topics range from organizational skills and servant leadership, finding your passion, etc. Dr. Seuss’s “Oh, the Place You’ll Go” will be used to emphasize leadership as a
journey. Also they will incorporate other works from him to highlight leadership traits.

AOL is organized by Lead101 and this year, the AOL conference will be on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the J. Wayne Reitz Union Grand Ballroom. The keynote speaker is Patricia Telles-Irvin.

Crossing Borders Service Trip

Children Beyond Our Borders is now accepting applications for their Crossing Borders 2010 service trips to Medellin and Cartagena, Colombia. There are two leadership positions per trip and there are several volunteer positions. Please visit their Web site at www.chbob.org for detailed information about the trips and to access our applications.

We are also having an information session on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in FLG 210. Please come learn more about this exciting opportunity.
The *tentative* dates for the trips in 2010 are:
-Cartagena- May 3rd- May 16th
-Medellin- August 7th- August 21st

Gatorship 2010 Applications

Gatorship is a unique leadership experience for both emerging and experienced student leaders at the University of Florida. It is designed to be an intense and thought-provoking weekend retreat where more than 60 participants and student staff have the opportunity to interact through team building activities and group discussions. The mission of Gatorship is to identify issues affecting the campus climate at the University of Florida, strengthen the practices of productive leadership, educate University of Florida in real world leadership issues, prepare students who will be future leaders in the diverse work force, and provide opportunities for campus leaders to network.

Paired with a UF faculty or staff member, Peer Leaders help facilitate classroom discussions, teach and conduct presentations on course topics, plan out-of-class activities, and serve as role models for new students.

FBK Speaker’s Bureau Hiring Judges

Florida Blue Key Speaker’s Bureau is looking to hire student judges for the 26th Annual Blue Key Speech and Debate competition. This high school tournament takes place October 30 to November 1. No experience required. You are paid per round judged and can work any or all of the three tournament days. Applications are available in the Florida Blue Key Office in Reitz Union Room 364 or by email request sent to stephaniembrown@ufl.edu.

Josephine West Scholarship Applications Now Available

The Josephine A. West Memorial Service Scholarship provides an annual grant of $1,000 to an outstanding undergraduate female student at the University of Florida.

To be considered, applicants must comply with all of the following
requirements:

Minimum 3.4 GPA
Be enrolled full time
Be at least of sophomore standing
Provide service to UF and to fellow students

The Outreach Ambassador Program invites you to join our OAP family. As ambassadors, we represent the University of Florida through informational presentations, tours of high schools and much more to inform high school students what college life is REALLY about.

We will be having our 2nd general body meeting this Wednesday and we would love to see you there! The meeting will be held in Turlington Hall Rm. L011 at 6:30pm.
