University Committee Applications

The University of Florida encourages student involvement through participation and membership on committees that advise the administration on important issues. A list of committees can be found on the Provost’s Website at http://fora.aa.ufl.edu/University/

If you are interested in being considered for an appointment to a university committee complete the online application at the following Website: http://www.dso.ufl.edu/index.php/vpsa/

Students eligible to serve on university committees will be selected from this pool of applicants. Vacancies on committees that occur during the year will be filled from this pool of applicants.

The deadline for application is Friday, June 21, 2013.

Eligibility requirements for Student Committees are the same as the requirements for holding an elected or appointed position in a student organization. For general requirements please go to https://www.studentinvolvement.ufl.edu/Resources/StudentActivitiesAppeal#1.

Free Summer Workshops – Improve Your Microsoft and Adobe Skills

Students interested in expanding their Microsoft and Adobe skills can attend any of this summer’s Seminar Teaching Essential Program (STEP) workshops.

All workshops take place in HUB 221 on Wednesday evenings.

Intercollegiate Athletics Committee

UF students are invited to apply for membership on the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (one position available). The appointment is for the 2013-2014 academic year.

The I.A.C. is the faculty/student committee which recommends academic policies concerning athletics.

Student applicants should be enrolled on a full-time basis in a degree program, be in good academic standing, and have a record of leadership and involvement in the UF community.

The applications must be returned to the Vice President for Student Affairs Office, 155 Tigert Hall, by June 28, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. The selection will be recommended by the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, the Faculty Representative to the N.C.A.A., the U.F. Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the Student Body President. The final appointment decision will be made by the President of the University.

Summer A classes end on Friday, June 21.

Official transcripts available with summer A grades & degrees are available June 26.

June 24 through June 28 is Summer break.

Summer B regular registration deadline is June 28 by 5 p.m.
$100 late registration fee will be assessed after 5 p.m. deadline.

On July 1, summer B classes begin.

July 1-2 (by 11:59 p.m.) is Summer B Drop/Add.

July 2 (by 11:59 p.m.): Last day to drop or withdraw from summer B without fee liability. Students are responsible for all summer B classes that remain on their schedules after July 2 at 11:59 p.m. Please confirm that your schedule is accurate. You can verify your schedule from the ISIS homepage, Under My Online Services, click Registration > My Schedule > Summer

The Engineering Homecoming Float is a great way for many different engineering disciplines to come together and work towards a common goal while putting both their knowledge and creativity to the test. As Homecoming Float Director, you will be creating the idea/theme for this year’s float, be in charge of the BEC Homecoming Float committee, and running the float builds. University Stand-Up Comedy Club

Wanna learn how to perform stand-up comedy? The University Stand-Up Comedy Club (USUCC) provides a teaching experience for students who have the urge to get on stage and make people laugh. They’ll teach you how: to write, form a joke, structure a set list, establish your stage presence… in short, they’ll teach you everything you need to know, as well as provide a venue for students to perform. No experience or previous stage time is required.

They meet every Tuesday at 1982 (919 W. University Avenue, Gainesville, Florida 32601) at 7:30 p.m.

Research Assistant Needed

The Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory is seeking motivated undergraduate students who are interested in serving as research assistants. Their lab focuses on understanding the impact of psychopathology and neurological conditions on cognitive constructs such as attention and memory. To this end, they design and employ cognitive and affective computerized tasks while examining activity of the brain. Currently, they are studying cognition in traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and healthy individuals. Research opportunities include: interacting with research participants and clinical populations, assisting with neuroimaging and electroencephalography (EEG) acquisition, neuropsychological test administration, data entering, and general laboratory maintenance.
