Thanksgiving Dinner Party

Join Gator Dining Monday, Nov. 23 @ Gator Corner Dining Center for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. They will be serving turkey with dressing & cranberry sauce, spiral sliced ham, au gratin potatoes, green beans and carrots, stuffed acorn squash and chocolate fondue for dessert.

There will be give aways and a grand prize drawing. Dinner will be served from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Use your residential, commuter, faculty/staff meal plan or $8.99 for cash customers.

Free HIV Testing for UF Students

In honor of World AIDS Day 2009, Eta Sigma Gamma, GatorWell, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars teamed up to offer free HIV testing to UF students. The tests are free, by appointment only, and will take place December 1, from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. in the Florida Gym. Call 392-1161 x4281 today to schedule your free HIV test. UF SIFE Sustainable Entrepreneurship Forum

The University of Florida Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) would like to invite you to attend their Sustainable Entrepreneurship Forum on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in Bryan Hall 232. In recent years, the topic of Environmental Sustainability has become increasingly popular, but what does it mean for business? In this forum, you will have the opportunity to hear from and network with entrepreneurs who have incorporated environmentally-friendly practices in their business. Students for the Performing Arts Reception

Students are invited to attend the Students for the Performing Arts Reception. Come join Student for the Performing Arts Sunday, November 22 at 4 p.m. at University of Florida Performing Arts to learn about new, interesting ways to get involved with the performing arts. Free food and refreshments will be provided.

Immediately following University of Florida’s all-female a capella ensemble The Sodoctaves.

Admission is free to the reception upon presenting your Gator 1 ID.

Come for Dominos pizza and refreshments, free raffle prizes, and a chance to mingle with students, University of Florida Performing Arts staff and The Sodoctaves to learn about the Student Encore Circle and the three programs it offers UF students for involvement with the arts.

Gator Swim and Dive vs. FSU

Gator Swimming and Diving takes on in-state rival FSU at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24. Fans can enter at Gate 2 of the O’Connell Center and admission is free. Register to become a member of the Splash Squad, the official fan club of Florida Swimming and Diving, and receive a t-shirt at the meet. Visit GatorZone.com to register. Transgender Day of Remembrance

The University of Florida LGBT Affairs Office, Office of Multicultural and Diversity Affairs, Student Government and Pride Student Union will be holding a candlelight vigil to commemorate International Transgender Day of Remembrance, memorializing the over 120 deaths of the past year directly related to anti-transgender violence. The vigil will be held in the Plaza of the Americas on November 20 at 7:30 p.m.

There have been over 500 deaths reported worldwide since 1970, with countless other cases estimated to be unreported or undocumented. It is approximated that an anti-transgender murder occurs every 3 days.

Come to remember those who have been taken from us and learn more about the issues faced by the trans community.

Did you know that The National Coalition for the Homeless has ranked Gainesville, for the second time, America’s 5th meanest city to the homeless? Did you know that Gainesville has 1,600 people in its hunger and homeless population?

Hunger and Homelessness Week is here.
Join ACTIONS! November 15-21 for a week-long endeavor dedicated to building awareness about hunger, homelessness, and poverty within our community. Hunger and Homelessness (H&H) Week is filled with events created to help dismantle stereotypes and misinformation about homelessness. It also provides students with opportunities to take action and get involved.

This year’s theme is: “It Could’ve Been Me.” Help spread the word by attending and participating in the various events.

Zoo Day with Dance Marathon

Join Dance Marathon 2010 for a day at the zoo. On Sunday, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., DM will host carnival games, refreshments, a live broadcast from KISS 105.3 and a live performance by No Southern Accent at Santa Fe Teaching Zoo, located at 3000 N.W. 83rd Street. Admission to the carnival and entertainment stage is free, and zoo admission is only $4 for adults. Dance Marathon benefits Children’s Miracle Network at Shands Children’s Hospital at UF.
