			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Because of budget issues the University Cashier Office is no longer able to offer over-the-counter cashiering services for student payments at Criser Hall.</p>
<p>Student Payments:  Over-the-counter payments such as cash or debit card payments are no longer accepted.  However, students may still pay at Criser by dropping checks in the 24 hour drop box located outside the Cashier Office at S-113 Criser Hall.</p>
<p>Additionally, students have several other options of payment methods.<br />
The following student payment methods remain available:</p>
<p>* Payments made directly from students&#8217; financial aid.</p>
<p>* On-line payments may be made at my.ufl.edu, select My Campus Finances for:<br />
1)  Free e-check payments, or<br />
2)  On-line credit cards payments (MasterCard, Discover and American Express)- a service fee is charged.</p>
<p>University Financial Services remains open for students from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday for students needing assistance with their accounts.  They may be reached at 392-0181 or emailed at ufshelp@admin.ufl.edu</p>

<p align="left"><font face="Times New Roman"><font face="Times New Roman"><font face="Times New Roman">Students should pay particular attention to the changes regarding renewal criteria and repayment for courses funded by Bright Futures that are dropped/withdrawn.</font></font></font></p>
<p align="left"><font face="Times New Roman"><font face="Times New Roman"><font face="Times New Roman">Beginning Fall Semester 2009, Bright Futures recipients are required to meet new minimum credit hour requirements to renew their award each year. The Florida Legislature now requires <strong>full-time</strong> students to earn at least 24 semester hours to renew their award at the end of the spring term.</font></font></font></p>
<p align="left"><font face="Times New Roman"><font face="Times New Roman"><font face="Times New Roman">The Florida Legislature also now requires students to repay the cost of any course dropped or withdrawn after the drop add period. Repayment for the cost of a dropped or withdrawn course is required to renew a Bright Futres award for a subsequent academic year. There is an exception to this requirement for medical withdrawals. </font></font></font></p>

<p>• Service: Successful applicants must demonstrate exemplary service to the UF and the wider Gainesville communities on behalf of their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) members. Such service may include efforts to eliminate homophobia, to prevent discrimination, or to create safe spaces and activities for LGBT individuals.</p>
<p>• Research: Successful applicants must have carried out research within the last year (Spring Semester 2008-Spring Semester 2009) that focuses on an LGBT topic.</p>
<p> Application information Applicants should submit the following: one copy of their UF transcript; a brief, narrative statement about their service or research, and how they came to undertake this commitment; and two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to the quality of the service or research (at least one of which should be from a UF faculty or staff member).</p>
