When & Why You Should Use the UF VPN

Filed under Administrative, Information Tech on October 27, 2020.

Have you been using UF’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) while learning remotely? Students can use the VPN to securely access UF resources from anywhere. Think of it as a “tunnel” that links your computer’s network to the UF network while protecting your sensitive information. Through the UF VPN, you can access services that are only available when connected to the campus network. While the VPN isn’t necessary for websites like ONE.UF and Canvas e-Learning, here’s when you should use it:

  • Search for UF library resources
  • Work remotely on a desktop
  • Access departmental drives and network files
