Will you Be My Cyber-Aware Valentine?

Don’t let a cyber thief ruin your Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re going on a date with someone you met on an app or buying your Valentine a gift from an online store, here are some security threats to be aware of.

Gators with online dating profiles – be mindful of the information you share. While you might find love, your data – messages, photos, phone number, and location – last forever on dating apps. Third party vendors can construct profiles based on this information to target and manipulate people.

Buying a Valentine’s present online? Beware of formjacking! Formjacking is the digital version of credit card skimming. You might not know when your information is stolen, since formjacking is invisible to shoppers. Always connect to a secure WiFi network and keep the security tools on your computer updated to block cyberattacks.
