Have you ever received a phishing email from a UF email address? That usually happens when your account is hacked – strong passwords can prevent this from happening to you! Here are the DO’s and DON’Ts of creating a strong password.

DO:

  • Make your password at least eight characters long.
  • Choose a phrase instead of a single word.
  • Include numbers, symbols, and both uppercase and lowercase letters.
  • Change your password regularly.
  • Use a password manager to organize and create unique passwords.

DON’T:

  • Use personal information like birthdays, anniversaries, relatives’ names, etc.
  • Reuse passwords.
  • Share your passwords.
  • Write your passwords on a sticky note.
