ESOL Closet Drive with the BCLS

Filed under Opportunities, Service on November 26, 2018.
The Brown Center for Leadership and Service will be hosting a drive for the ESOL Closet this November 15th-30th. The ESOL Closet began in 1997 with one couch. They now receive donations from UF and Santa Fe students and the community at large. Everything is taken to Gainesville High School where it is organized for families to come and take what they need. The principal at GHS is very supportive of the Closet and has given them several rooms where they keep the donated items. They deliver things to people who can not take home what they chose. They assist ESOL students, GHS families, newly placed homeless vets and families , UF students and others in need. Everything is free.
The following items can be dropped of at the BCLS Office on the second floor of the Reitz Union:
- Food, drinks, and snacks (nonperishable)
- Health and beauty items, toiletries (unused)
- Cleaners and household supplies (unused)
- Sports equipment (Used is fine.)
- Bedroom decorations
Large donations, such as furniture and household appliances, can be picked up by Louise. Contact her by call/text at (352) 281-0836 or email at yarivls@gm.sbac.edu
