Free Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Drop-off

Keep Alachua County Beautiful is hosting a free household hazardous waste drop-off for members of the community on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Albert “Ray” Massey Park, at 1001 NW 34th Street, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Household hazardous waste items can cause injury if handled improperly. These items will likely have a warning label with statements such as flammable, corrosive, poison or toxic. Be sure to handle such items with care.

The following items will be accepted at the event and should never be disposed of with household garbage:

  • Poisons
  • Flammable Liquids
  • Corrosives
  • Used Motor Oil and Filters
  • Brake Fluid, Transmission Fluid
  • Automotive Batteries
  • Antifreeze
  • Stale Gas
  • Paints and Other Surface Coatings
  • Aerosol Containers
  • Dry Cell Batteries
  • Fluorescent Lamps
  • End of Life Electronics (E-Scrap or E-Waste)
  • Old TV’s, computers, computer monitors, stereos, VCRs, etc.
  • Propane tanks
  • Unwanted medicines/pharmaceuticals
  • Waste vegetable oil
  • Flares and Ammunition

Alachua County residents can dispose of household hazardous waste year round at the Alachua County Hazardous Waste Center located at the Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station, 5125 NE 63rd Ave., Gainesville, FL.
