April 13: Rethinking Modern Counterterrorism

Filed under Academic, Events on April 9, 2017.

John J. Mulligan, the deputy director of the National Counterterrorism Center, will speak at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, in the Pugh Hall Ocora on the current terrorist threat environment, both global and national, reviewing recent history and examining the evolving nature of terrorist threats. Mulligan describes current challenges facing the U.S. counterterrorism mission and the manner in which the U.S. has sought to adapt to both changing terror methods and a changing operational landscape. He also suggests ideas on how to frame this problem in the longer term while addressing more immediate security requirements.
