University of Florida 2017 MLK Keynote Address with Marc Lamont Hill

Please join University of Florida’s campus-wide celebration as we remember and honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr with keynote speech delivered by Dr. Marc Lamont Hill on Tuesday, January 31st, 2017.
A Distinguished Professor of African American Studies at Morehouse College, Dr. Hill remains as one of the leading journalistic voice in social justice receiving numerous awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, GLAAD and the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
Currently hosting VH1 Live, as well as serving as a political contributor for CNN, Dr. Hill has maintained a prominent position as the leading voice of activism of this generation.
Dr. Hill is a founding board member of My5th, a non-profit organization devoted to educating youth about their legal rights and responsibilities. He is also a board member and organizer of the Philadelphia Student Union. He works closely with the ACLU Drug Reform Project, focusing on drug informant policy. Over the past few years, Hill has actively worked on campaigns to end the death penalty and to release numerous political prisoners. In 2011, Ebony Magazine named him one of America’s 100 most influential black leaders.
The celebration is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the University Auditorium with doors opening at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
