Students Should Remain Vigilant about Zika

Filed under Administrative, Information Tech on November 15, 2016.

As cooler temperatures return to campus, the mosquito population has become less of a visible concern; however, UF officials are encouraging students, faculty and staff to remain vigilant about potential Zika transmission.

In addition to mosquito bites, Zika can be passed through sex from a person who has Zika to their sex partners, even if the person does not have symptoms at the time. Sexual exposure includes sex without a condom with a person who traveled to or lives in an area with Zika.

For the most current information on Zika, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website at www.cdc.gov/zika.
