Bobby Shew Live

University of Florida alumni from across the country will return to campus on Saturday, February 20, 2016 to perform in and attend a special concert, Bobby Shew Live, featuring the UF Jazz Band and Gary Langford. Scott Wilson, head of UF’s Jazz program, says the reunion concert is a dream in the making. Planning for the concert, which will feature alumni and students playing alongside one another, began when he found a CD in the archives of a 1983 concert at UF featuring Bobby Shew and the UF Jazz Band. Members of the 1983 band and Shew will return to the University Auditorium stage on February 20 at 7:30 p.m. for a reunion concert that is free and open to the public. Donations are being accepted to the Bobby Shew Jazz/Lead Trumpet Scholarship. Those who make a donation by February 17 of $30 or more will receive the Bobby Shew Live 1983 CD. Donations of $50 or more includes the CD and an invitation to a pre-concert toast with the artists, and a donation of $100 or more includes those items as well as an invitation to a post-concert dinner with the artists.
