Global Islam and the Quest for Public Space

John L. Esposito, professor of Religion and International Affairs and of Islamic Studies at Georgetown University, will speak at the Bob Graham Center for Public Service at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 in Pugh Hall.

Esposito will discuss the complex and contentious relationship between Christians and Muslims including: the future of Islam in an increasing globalized society; terror in the name of Islam; common misconceptions and resulting “Islam-phobia.”

Esposito has served as consultant to the U.S. Department of State and is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Council of 100 Leaders and the E. C. European Network of Experts on De-Radicalization.
