Day of Difference
Junior Achievement is one of the largest non-profit education organizations whose mission is to help students understand the relevance of education to the workplace through hands-on activities. Junior Achievement has partnered with SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) at the University of Florida to plan JA Day of Difference, which will be held Friday, November 6th, 2009. This day will be spent educating and inspiring elementary children (in grades K-5) about business, economics and free enterprise.
Last semester, over 190 students from the University of Florida volunteered in 108 classes at 14 different Alachua County Elementary schools. Not only is it an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children, but it’s an opportunity to build your resume at the same time! For anyone interested in volunteering, please visit the following website to register:
Under organizations or individuals you will find a link to the Junior Achievement Bio Form as well as the Junior Achievement Volunteer Conduct and Standards form. All you have to do is fill these out and email them to jadayofdifference@gmail.com by October 1st. If you want to be partnered with someone you know, be sure to indicate that in the e-mail. Training sessions will take place on October 20th and 21st, and you only have to attend ONE of them!
Once you register, you will be notified of a time and location of the session.
Thank you for your dedication and interest! If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact Junior Achievement at jadayofdifference@gmail.com or the SIFE team captains, Brittany Pierce (bpierce1@ufl.edu) and Ankit Bavishi
(ankitb08@ufl.edu) at any time.
