Help out our community by making Winter Break Food Basket Drive

Filed under Service on December 5, 2008.

Giving back to your local community is easy this winter break. Your organization or group of friends can donate food baskets to local families in Alachua County Public Schools (ACPS). Many families in ACPS count on school programs to provide their children with food each day through the Free/Reduced School Meal Program. However, during winter break, the neediest families in Alachua County cannot afford to feed their familys everyday. Last year, over 300 families were helped and even more families are in need for winter break 2008. You can make a difference by donating food baskets for the 2008 food drive. All food baskets or financial donations are due by Dec. 10. For more information about the Alachua County Food Basket Drive contact Jackie Horstmann at Jhorst01@ufl.edu or at 352-955-6900.
