Awards for LGBT Service or Research
The University of Florida Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Concerns Committee and the Rainbow Alliance are pleased to announce the 2008-2009 competition for the Rainbow Alliance Awards for Student LBGT Service and Research Cash awards totaling $1,000 will be presented to undergraduate and/or graduate students of the University of Florida for excellence in either service or research.
• Service: Successful applicants must demonstrate exemplary service to the UF and the wider Gainesville communities on behalf of their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) members. Such service may include efforts to eliminate homophobia, to prevent discrimination, or to create safe spaces and activities for LGBT individuals.
• Research: Successful applicants must have carried out research within the last year (Spring Semester 2008-Spring Semester 2009) that focuses on an LGBT topic.
Application information Applicants should submit the following: one copy of their UF transcript; a brief, narrative statement about their service or research, and how they came to undertake this commitment; and two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to the quality of the service or research (at least one of which should be from a UF faculty or staff member).
