Get Involved with City Government

Filed under Leadership on April 4, 2008.

SG Community Political Affairs Cabinet is looking for motivated individuals to fill the positions reserved for student representatives on the City of Gainesville advisory boards and committees. The advisory boards and committees, which range in focus from housing to transportation to human rights, will provide students with the opportunity to learn more about local government, gain experience in politics and their field of study, and meet influential individuals in the community. The application, which can be completed online, is posted here: http://www.cityofgainesville.org/organiz/clerk/meetings.aspx, under the “student adjunct” section. It is recommended for students to attend a meeting of the board before applying. As another option, applications to Alachua County’s advisory boards are accepted on a rolling basis. A list of vacancies is available here: http://assets2.alachua.fl.us/advisoryboards.
