Summer Political Studies in Dublin, Ireland 2008
The Department of Political Science and the University of Florida International Center (UFIC) are very pleased to announce an exciting and unparalleled opportunity for undergraduates in political science and across disciplines to study in Dublin, Ireland for six weeks in Summer 2008 (June 16-July 25).
A general information meeting on the Summer Political Studies in Dublin, Ireland Program will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 4-5 p.m. in 216 Anderson Hall (across from the main office of the Political Science Department). Program Director Professor Richard Conley and Professors Leann Brown and Dan O’Neill will provide in-depth information on the courses offered, the excursions, and offer assistance with applications. As we expect this program to fill quickly, applications will be due to UFIC by 25 January 2008.
Students who wish to begin applying early (recommended) are encouraged to go to http://abroad.ufic.ufl.edu , search for “Ireland,” and begin the application process on line. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Summer Political Studies in Dublin, Ireland Program offers students the extraordinary opportunity to take two of three courses offered
(6 credit hours), all of which are for UF credit (i.e., not transfer credit). The program is open to all majors:
- The Politics and Government of Ireland (Professor Richard Conley)
- Ireland in the European Union (Professor Leann Brown)
- Irish Political Thought and Literature (Professor Dan O’Neill)
Students will reside in the dormitories at Dublin City University (DCU), approximately 10-15 minutes from downtown and the bustling O’Connell Street area, a stone’s throw from the River Liffey, Temple Bar, and St. Stephen’s Green. All courses will take place on the DCU campus.
